Jonathan Escapes

Jonathan would like to hear your suggestions for sticky situations you'd like to see him escape from in the future!

There's a list of escapes he's already done on the shows page, so get your thinking caps on and let's see what we can come up with. Who knows - your idea may just get chosen to be featured in the next series or a web-exclusive video clip!

If Jonathan wants to do something a bit risky, he might try escaping from some type of bondage while in a tank or form that is being filled with fresh concrete. He should wear a full wetsuit and face mask to protect his skin and eyes from the alkaline mixture. He could also have some sort of snorkel or breathing tube in case he becomes submerged.

If Jonathan becomes submerged in the concrete and fails to escape in time the concrete will set up. The set up time is controllable by what is added to the mixture. The idea of being entombed in a solid will give some people nightmares. But, the concrete won't get hard for a long time and Jonathan can be extracted by breaking it up.

Escape From Quick Sand

If you watch Myth Busters, you may have seen the machine they built to demonstrate how quicksand behaves. Quicksand is composed of fine particles of sand suspended in flowing water. The reason it is so deadly is that the more you struggle, the further you sink and viscosity makes it extremely difficult to escape. So, you either keep sinking in until you drown or you dye of dehydration because, although you can float in it, you can't get yourself free from it.

My thought is that Jonathan could either borrow the quicksand machine from Myth Busters or build one like it. He could be handcuffed behind his back and pitched into it. He has to escape from the handcuffs or other bindings without sinking and drowning. Besides that, he has to extract himself from it.

There is one other characteristic of the quicksand machine. When the pumps are turned off, the sand settles and becomes like cement. So, to ad more tension to the stunt, the pump could be controlled by a timer and Jonathan given only a certain amount of time to escape before he is entombed. Of course, if the pump is turned on, it once again becomes quick sand again to allow for his extraction.
